About Me

I am a freelance environmental writer with a passion for nature, animals, and the ocean. I have a Diploma in Nature Conservation together with a degree in Marine Biology, and have worked as an Environmental Education Coordinator, and as a Scientific Research Officer – conducting field research on rocky shore ecology, and African penguins for a number of years.

I have worked with animals all my life, having owned my own pet shop, dog grooming parlor, and educational mobile petting zoo, taking my extensive family of rescued farm animals to children’s parties and schools for educational interactive fun. I currently reside on a smallholding in the countryside and own 5 dogs, 3 cats, 2 horses, a collection of parrots, rabbits and chooks – life is never dull¬† : )

When I am not writing or caring for my animals, I enjoy surfing the waves at my local beach, or spending time chilling with my horses.
